Noboribetsu
Noboribetsu hot spring town. The smoke in front is a steam of hot spring.
Noboribetsu is a famous hot spring area.
It has been one of the most popular hot springs in Japan for a long years.
Why the hot water gushes there?
Because Noboribetsu was once a huge volcano tens of thousands years ago.
The volcano erupted and collapsed in the ancient times, but you can still find its remnants, such as Jigoku-dani (hell valley), Oyu-numa (hot spring pond) and Lake Kuttara.
There is a hot geyser at the center of the town.
You can see hot water gushes up every several hours.
Jigoku-dani (hell valley)
Just several minutes walking from the town, you can reach the hell valley.
Jigoku-dani valley is a crator of a volcano and smoke still rises from everywhere in the valley.
Smell of surfur comes drifting in the air and there is no grass or tree.
People in old times watched that scaring landscape and named this valley as hell where orges live.
Oyu-numa (hot spring pond)
Oyu-numa pond is also a crator of volcano and 130℃ water gushes from the bottom of the pond.
Never soak your hand in the pond! The surface is still 40~50℃ and you would get a burn.
There is a small hot river near the pond and you can enjoy naural foot bath in the forest.
Orofure peak
The view from Orofure peak. If it is sunny, you can see the sea over the mountains.
Riding the motorcycle and through Noboribetsu hot spring town, then you will encounter with a twisty mountain road.
The constrast of red leaves and sheer cliff is very beautyful in autumn.
To go to Orofure peak, turn left after through a tunnel. You can see a delightful view and abondoned old road from the peak.
The landscape before and after the peak will be change.
You can see the steep mountains at the Noboribetsu side, and bright and majestic landscape at the opposite site.
Date Ninja village
Once you pass through the gate, you will time travel into the old samurai period.
The theme park reproduces old Japanese houses and ninja, samurai, oiran(dressed women) will amuse you.
